Dr. Tamal Kumar Guha is the Librarian of IIT Guwahati.  He received MA Degree in Sociology from Kalyani University and Master’s Degree.and Ph.D. in Library & Information Science from the North Eastern Hill University. He pursued further studies on Virtual Reference at Syracuse University, USA as a Fulbright Scholar (2005-06) and also worked on 'Community Information Dispersal System' as Erasmus Mundus EUPHRATES Scholar (2014)  at University College Dublin, Ireland. His core research interest revolves around qualitative research methodology. His is actively involved in Consortia activities.

Dr. Guha joined the library profession in the year 1994. In the year 2011 he became the first librarian of Sikkim University and joined IIT Guwahati as first librarian in the year 2013.
