Lisa Smith has been a Library Director and member of the Executive Team at Monash University for the last 13 years. She is a passionate advocate of the transformational role of Universities and Libraries for individuals and societies, with a focus on contributing to academic libraries as they extend into new spaces and roles for 21st learning and research. Lisa’s portfolio includes responsibility for the Library’s engagement with the University’s education agenda, including through information research skills, learning skills and eLearning, and with several faculty areas. She has broad oversight of two branch libraries and is the University Copyright Compliance Officer with overall responsibility for copyright.In recent years Lisa played a lead role in the transformational extension and refurbishment of the University’s Caulfield Library and, as part of her commitment to contributing to the development of the next generation of Library professionals, is along-term mentor in the CAVAL Cross-Institutional Mentoring Program, in which she is also Monash University Library’s Institutional lead and member of the program’s Reference Group.
