Bethany Wilkes is the University Librarian at Singapore Management University (SMU), which she joined in early 2020. She is responsible for the strategic direction for SMU Libraries, which include the Li Ka Shing Library and the Kwa Geok Choo Law Library. She has lived and worked in Singapore for over four years, and she was College Librarian at Yale-NUS College, Singapore prior to joining SMU. She has a fondness for islands and has worked in leadership positions and roles advancing information literacy in university libraries in several parts of the world, including Hong Kong,Alaska USA, and the Virgin Islands. Bethany’s diverse international experiences contribute to her commitment to collaboration and international librarianship. She is active in local and international library associations, has served as a mentor as part of several formal mentorship programmes, and is currently Chair of the International Association of University Libraries (IATUL) Special Interest Group for the Advancement of Library Services in Emerging Countries(SIG-ALICE).
