Libraryapac@wiley.com

From Physical Texts to a Unified Digital Resource: Buddhist Archives in Taiwan

In recent years, the mission to preserve old texts and manuscripts has taken on a new level with digital tools. Within the field of Buddhist studies, the digitalization of Buddhist texts began in the early 1990s. More than two decades later, the initiative has developed into a comprehensive network of Buddhist digital research resources.

In this webinar, Dr. HUNG Jen Jou, Director of the Library and Information Centre at Dharma Drum Institute of Liberal Arts (DILA), Taiwan will focus on aspects of the development of digital resources for Buddhist studies in Taiwan over the past 20 years. Library professionals, archivists, scholars and those interested in developing digital humanities research resources will appreciate this opportunity to understand the journey of unifying the diverse array of Buddhist texts into an all-encompassing digital resource and learn more about the future direction and potential of digital archives.

Key Highlights
• A survey of the development of digital research resources in Taiwan Buddhism
