In this webinar, Dr. Madhu Bhaskaran, Professor and Research Leader at RMIT University will discuss how diversity in STEM is being addressed at various levels. She will also share her own experiences in leading a diverse team and her future projects in the next generation of smart devices.
Just as teams and collaborations are important in research innovation, diversity can be a critical factor to drive disruption. Besides being viewed through a gendered lens, diversity in other forms, including cultural and cross-disciplinary, can be integral to success.

Associate Professor Madhu Bhaskaran co-leads the Functional Materials and Microsystems Research Group at RMIT University. She has won several awards and fellowships for her research including competitive Australian Research Council Postdoctoral Fellowship (2010-2014) and Australian Research Council DECRA Fellowship (2016-2018). In 2017 she was recognised with the Eureka Prize for Outstanding Early Career Researcher and also named as Australia’s Most Innovative Engineers by Engineers Australia. In 2018, she has won the Batterham Medal and the APEC Aspire Prize. Her research interests include functional oxide thin films, wearable technologies and stretchable electronics.
