Professor Shaliza Ibrahim is Universiti Malaya (UM) Associate Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) and founding President of the Malaysia Association for Research Managers and Administrators (MyRMA). As a keen researcher in the field of Chemical Engineering with a decade of experience in managing research processes, she sees the importance of professional research management which includes research data management (RDM). 

She was Director of the Malaysian Research Management and Governance (MRMG) project in which research data curation was one of the focus areas, along with research impact, full economic costing, and professional research management. The establishment of a platform for research data sharing was a recommendation from the MRMG project. At UM she has been involved in the UM Open Science policy and setting up of the research data repository. She is a member of the Malaysia Open Science Alliance and the Capacity Building and Awareness Working Group under the Malaysia Open Science Platform (MOSP). She is an instructor for the Research Management and RDM module in the training-of-trainers for data stewardship and is proposing a continuing professional development (CPD) programme for data stewards to develop and update their professional knowledge and skills.
