Mr Glenn Truran is the SANLiC Director. He holds a Bachelor of Arts and two postgraduate diplomas, one in education and the other in public policy and development administration, from the University of the Witwatersrand, and an MBA from the University of Cape Town. Glenn’s early career was in education, teaching in South Africa and England and running educational programmes for children from low income families. He has worked for non-profit organisations, focusing on poverty alleviation, for most of his career. He has had over 30years’ experience at a managerial level. Glenn is passionate about open access on a global scale and the idea of equitable participation of all readers and research authors in the record of science. He has actively motivated for a transition to open access in South Africa and participated in the negotiation and facilitation of read and publish agreements that have rapidly converted the majority of South African research output from subscription based to full, immediate open access without author facing fees and without surrenderingcopyright.
