Sucharita is the Deputy Editor for Cancer Medicine, A WILEY Open Access Oncology Journal, based out of Oxford, United Kingdom.  She is responsible for evaluating/triaging manuscripts, peer-review management, scientific communications, identifying/recruiting Editors and, improving editorial office processes for this journal to make it more author-centric.   Prior to joining WILEY as a Scientific Editor, Sucharita was associated with Cactus Communications where she managed the content group of the Publication Support Services team, and was the lead India Academic Trainer for Editage Insights.

Sucharita is a trained Biochemist with expertise in Protein and Nucleic Acid Biochemistry focusing on DNA Repair, Cancer Biology, and RNA Biology. She is a published author with more than 750 career citations to date and is a certified member of the Board of Editors in the Life Sciences. She has been a member of the American Association of Advancement of Sciences (AAAS) (2004-2006), the American Chemical Society (ACS) (2009-2010), and the RNA Society (2011-2013).  

Sucharita obtained her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Calcutta, India, with an Honors in Chemistry; her Master’s degree in Biotechnology from the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay, India. She completed her doctoral degree with Prof. Sheila David at UC Davis and followed up with an NIH Post- Doctoral Fellowship at the School of Medicine, University of Utah. She is also a certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
