Prof. Amane graduated from Keio University School of Medicine in 1997. After working as an assistant professor at the Department of Physiology, Keio University School of Medicine, he became a research fellow at Harvard Medical School in 2002, and an associate professor at the National Institute for Physiological Sciences (NIPS) in 2007. He has been an associate professor at the Institute for Physiological Sciences of the National Institutes of Natural Sciences since 2007, and has been in his current position since 2013. As a supervising University Research Administrator, he is mainly responsible for research management and research capability analysis.
