The Library's Evolution in an Open Science Environment
Embark on this enriching journey of the evolving role of librarians in the APAC region, with our leaders and industry experts' testimonials.
The global publishing landscape is evolving and we are undeniably accelerating towards an open access world.
In the rapidly evolving landscape of scholarly publishing, librarians play an important role in navigating new models enhancing access to research literature. One such transformative paradigm gaining momentum in the APAC region is the concept of "Transformational Agreements."
These agreements transcend traditional subscription models, fostering a shift towards open access and redefine the dynamics among libraries, publishers, and researchers. Let's explore how these agreements are reshaping the scholarly communication landscape, offering new possibilities for librarians in the APAC region in these three videos.
In a virtual summit held for librarians in 2023, we brought together the movers and shakers in APAC to share their thoughts on the changes in the open science environment. Download their presentation decks and videos to learn more!

Panel Discussion: How Open Access fits into the broader landscape of Scholarly Communication

Benjamin Meunier and Dr. Santosh KV, Associate Professor went on to have a lively discussion on how open access and transformational agreements have started to change things for them in terms of how the library collaborated with faculty with a shared vision towards providing more accessibility.
The session was moderated by Alice Wood, Director, Open Research, APAC of Wiley
We ended with a topic that's been hotly contested in recent months: Artificial intelligence. The probable impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on work, including professional work, has been widely debated, but it is unlikely to leave them untouched.
The purpose of this presentation by Dr. Andrew Cox is to consider the likelihood of the adoption of different approaches to AI in academic libraries. By reviewing the nature of AI and the range of its potential uses in academic libraries, this presentation focuses on the application of AI to knowledge discovery and how a range of internal and external factors might influence the adoption of AI.
